I have medium brown hair, and want blond highlights. I will be buying the color from my drugstore and doing it myself since I am not happy with my last coloring. A stylist friend of mine told me that I can buy a blond shade (even if it doesn't say for brown hair) and just keep it on longer. She said that first it will turn orangy, then banana yellow, then light blond, and that's when I want to rinse it off. Is this true? Cause why do all the haircolor boxes list what shades of natural hair color each is for?
HELP... Hair Highlighting Color Question?
The best thing to do is to go to a professional hair stylist and have her place blond highlights into your hair using foils. After the color develops, make sure and ask her to put TONER into your hair for about 10 minutes or so, so that your hightlights won't turn out to be orange or yellow. It's very hard to get natural blond hightlights on brown hair, but you can get it done with correct professional formula and toner. Buying hair color over the counter at Wal-Mart or wherever is just a waste of money b/c your hair will be orange, light orange, and then yellow. If you want natural highlights, do it professionally!!HELP... Hair Highlighting Color Question?
ok, you need to go to a hairdresser if you wanna go blonde, because they have to bleach it and it will turn orangy, and it will stay orangy to yellow it wont go blonde.. (ive did that to my sisters hair ) and im a natural blonde but i died my hair black, so i got blonde highlights to help get back to my natural color and my stylist had to bleach and strip my hair color out, and blonde hair dye isnt for dark haired people, its for blondes wanting to go darker or lighter.
you want to have blond with brown hair. Your going to need to bleach it. If you have haircolor on your hair already. As for useing a haircolor and leaving it on longer if the perocide in that color isn't made for brown hair it won't work you will have orange hair. Also if your hair is colored already ,color doesn't lift color.
whoever your ';stylist'; friend is should be fired. listen to what the box says, if it's not for brown hair then it won't turn out right. obviously. you're best bet is always to go to a professional. again...obviously. but if you must do it yourself, look for a brand that has tools specifically for highlighting and make sure your hair matches the before picture on the box.
