How can i make multi-color highlights?

I don't think her hair is the same color in the whole video! it has a bright Purple in a few parts then it seems like more of a darker color! Ok well if you want the 2 bright colors you want to bleach your hair to almost white...that will make the highlights brighter! then put the top color on first to about the middle of the streak!..only use small amounts......then put the second color on the bottom half...take the bottom color and put it in between your fingers make sure it's even, and add it slowly..then starting from bottom up blend it in until you think it looks like how you want it! well I hope that helped :)How can i make multi-color highlights?

If your hair is dark, the color won't really show unless you pre lighten (bleach) your hair. Putting a temporary color all over will give you a subtle purple tone that shows up under direct light. Try beauty supply stores that are open to the public or Hot Topic for temporary color. Do not try bleaching your hair at home! Good Luck!

Try dying your hair blond and getting brown highlights for a dirty-blond color.. I think it would be GORGEOUS on you. =]

with your black hair i would go with dark red highlights or maybe like a dark chocolate or even a hazelnut color. dont go with blonde. highlights are suppose to ';highlight'; your face and super drastic highlights can look cheap/trashy. especially black and blonde. i think dark red would be best but then thats my hair color so im slightly biased haha

Carmel might stand out alot and make you look kiddish so i would go safe and get some shade of auburn or brown.I have dark brown hair too and I got the second picture i gave you last night and its awsome!
I think a light brown carmel color would be great! I just got my highlights done that color and it looks great! Just be sure not to go too light or it looks bad. I hope this helps!

It looks like you have medium/dark brown hair so I would not recommend blond (not to mention you would need to have it bleached in order for the color to stay in). I would say maybe a medium golden brown or amber-copper would look great.

Highlight can be done every 6 weks if done properly. They need to be done by a salon. The ones done at home fade away leaving your hair a mess!

The Dye. Because Bleaching is not good for you hair. It causes frizz end, dry hair, and it also damages your hair. Sometimes if you bleach it too much, it makes your hair look dead like a doll's hair.

The dye will always win hands down, because it's adding pigment, whereas the bleach removes pigment.

However, the dye won't always get it as light as you want it. (If you want it really light, like platinum lol) The dye will give you a more natural, softer blonde, and the bleach gives you the raw blonde.

So if you want, you can use the bleach to get your hair light, and the dye to tone it to your liking. :)

it completely depends on your personality. if you are outgoing and love attention from other people staring, i would suggest you go for either red or purple streaks. alternatively, go for brown streaks. don't go for blonde as it would look completely cheap and plus you would need a very strong paroxide and you might end up with yellow streaks. good luck!!!
It depends what look you are going for. If you want a very natural look, get medium brown highlights.

I know you don't want red, but what about a very, very dark red/brown. That may look good, especially with your eyes.

Also, a very dark blue may look good to... It would give your hair a 'shimmer'. It may else make your eyes 'pop' with the blues.

Burgundy is a hot favorite of the winters...If you want a classy look go for it or rusty colors. I suggest bubblepink or electric blue( a la Britney spears wig color) if you want a retro look. Or, silver streaks(they never seem to go out of style). You could also try my favourite, a deep and juicy RED...even I have black hair, and we are blessed...almost any color will look good on us, even multiple color streaks...talk to your hairdresser now!

Either very dark brown or red. Anything with much contrast will make you look like a cheap whore.

Depends on your personality. Light brown highlights look great on black hair, but fire red looks brilliant. But like I said, it has to be something you're comfortable with. You could even just have a blonde streak at the front for a dramatic change.
I suggest you to post a picture of you, so we can actually see what colour suits you best. Since you have dark hair, try to go with a colour a bit lighter (maybe brownish-blond). But DO NOT get totally light blond highlights because there will be too much contrast and it will look fake! Also, you can always look at some synthetic locks of hair extension to see what suits you best!

Black hair usually can't pull off blonde highlights, but since I don't have much to work with (picture??) black hair usually looks good with reddish and copper highlights.

depends on what color blonde you have.

ash/dirty blonde - platinum hightlights to brighten up your hair.

platinum/whitish blonde - none really unless you really want them. maybe blondes that are a few shades lighter.

you definitely dont wanna get red or brown or anything because that would look tacky and unnatural.

Well it depends it vould look weird (no effence) if you havesoem of ur old color in ur roots...but it could look cool depending on the color you are putting over the blonde.

With blondish hair I always think a pale pink such as Special Effects Cupcake Pink looks great. You can even mix this with conditioner to dilute it further. You can see loads of pink photos in our gallery which may help you decide.

I'm a hairstylist and I think it's always best to give a hairstylist as much information as possible as to what you want. Pictures are always very helpful. If you want Kate Walsh's red, bring in a picture. I have naturally dark brown hair with honey highlights. A month ago I found a picture of a dark brown slightly red cast color. The hairdresser put it on and at first it was very dark but after a few weeks has washed/faded out to a great color that is exactly what I wanted. The highlights come through the color and glow. There are no root touch ups like with blond and is less damaging.

Go with 2 different colors. It will give a lot of depth to your hair. Go with one shade lighter and then a shade lighter then that or even 2 shades lighter. Have the hair dresser figure out your natural color with hair swatches and then have her show you what is safe to go down to and take it form there but for sure go with 2 colors!!!

For caramel, make sure the color is very dark, otherwise it'll come out blonde, unless that's what you want of course.

It does not only depend on hair color but your skin tone as well. If you are cool toned then blondes or honey blondes or even a touch of darker or lighter browns. If you are warm toned soft reds, aburn like tones are good and a bit of gold would be nice too.

Oh, the classic Asia look!!!

Saw one yesterday, she had front-fringe part very nicely streaked 'grey/white' (more white than grey)with very subtle spokes radiating into both the upper and side sections -- like a modest starburst.

The main grey/white area was shaped like an oval about 1'; long. The radiating arms of this color varied in length and were just a few strands wide so it was subtle.

Then off these grey/white strands she had sort of a terracota red every so tiny emanating a bit deeper than the grey/white spokes. These were very narrow strands.

With your skin tone, that should really catch the eye.

The hair was a straight tight down to just below the jawline and coming up slightly to the back.

You would pull that off royally. Good luck and have fun.

me and my friend are thinking of getting highlight in like blue or pink and i have some questions. i was wondering if crazy colers will hurt my hair any more than regular highlights? for brown hair, magenta with navy blue is pretty sick. and if your friend likes it, it's okay to have the same hair color but make it different. but don't try to make it crazy like haylie from paramore.

If you do it right for the highlights to actually show you more than likely have to use a bleach solution and yes thats harmful to your hair. If you over process it your hair will be fried and feel like straw. Blue and pink doesnt typically look that good in brown hair. I'd do some reds or blondes. If your hair is really dark brown, do purple but feathered in or undernieth, I wouldnt do it all on top. My friend did that and it looks so good. Your friend with the blonde hair will have a better turn out if she does it with pinks. Blue just looks sort of trashy.

even semipermanent dye stays in a little bit forever. i dyed my hair green with blonde hair 2 months ago with semi, and it's still faintly green.

on dark hair, color will only make a subtle highlighted affect. if you're serious, bleach it first.

if you don't want to bleach it, go for colors like purple that will actually show up. light pink will not work very well.

Hm you hair looks black or dark brown so I'd say something to add a little dimension. What you might want to consider are contrasting lowlight and highlights.

So nothing too blond, I suggest a few copper and gold highlights and some contrasting auburn lowlights. After wards wait a few days after you get them done too so that the color sinks in a bit more before you wash them and then I'd use a nice color care shampoo to brighten them up and so you won't lose a lot of color. I use Dove advanced color care shampoo for dark hair and it works great but shop around until you find something you like or you can even have your colorist recommend anything if you want to buy one in the salon.

I dye my hair medium brown and I need to touch up my roots. Usually I put the color on my roots then whatever is left i'll out throughout my hair. However, i bought a highlighting kit, color rays. what you can do is keep on retouching your new growth like always but now that you want highlights i recomend that put the bleach first on the strands you want highlight then put the foil and color the new growth and what ever you have left put it on the rest.

with the highlights first is better and fast. dont take off the foils until you like the color.

Just color your roots because if you re-color everything then everything will probably become darker and you wont be content with your hair.

I reckon if you got either a really vibrant blue or a turquoise that would look cool. A mate of mine had brown hair with a really bright blue streak in it, and that looked pretty cool. As for dyes, go see your hairdresser or something, because they might be able to show you stuff you couldn't get in the shops.

You can also get UV hair dyes, too. They glow under blacklight, perfect if you want to go to a party or something. I'm not sure they'll last 3 weeks, but they're pretty good all the same ;)

they could be brassy because they didn't lift enough, the toner is only going to deposit the color, it's not going to lift the brassy color out at all, you can tone it a dark color

Red is pretty for black hair, but what another good one is just getting a blonde streak on the underside of your hair where it's visible. (It doesn't have to be blonde, it can be any color you like, but it still helps the black look less plain-boring-black). :)

If you plan on doing it yourself your best bet would be to go to sallys and ask for help. I cant see your hair to know what color you would need.

Blue is going to fade to green and be near impossible to ever get out without coloring your hair darker. I would go pink, keep in mind that these colors tend to have ';big'; color molecules that do not sink into the cuticle well and therefore no matter what you use and what the box tells you it's only going to last a few weeks and then you will be left with a dingy remnant of what you had that will be nearly impossible to get out of your hair!
Ice blue definitely. I have a setting on my camera where you could change the color of another color on the picture, and I changed one shade of my hair ice blue. It looked awesome!

those other colors are going to fade to a very gross looking color -- at least dark red/alomst purple will fade to an almost pinkish color with time.

if you're going light brown, auburn tones look pretty.

as for blonde, a lighter blonde looks best, and the most natural.

most pink/red colors does not look good as highlights cause it gives off this rock and roll goth look. which is very cheap and trashy looking.

if your going with the goth look, blue would probably be a good high light, but apply minimum.

if ur going for a pop star look, or night club gal, then stipes of blonde would look nice for both light and dark skin.

i dont think they would look good on your hair, or anyones hair for that matter. Theres a different between being bold, and being odd. those colors would look strange.

Ahh, all those colors (except blonde) fade sooo fast.

Purple=pink=orange=damaged blonde

Blue=green=orange=damaged blonde

Pink=orange=damaged blonde.

Winter is coming up, get darker colors! I would suggest a natural one, unnatural ones tend to fade within a month and are sooo not worth it.

I think blonde or red would look great in your hair, But thats my opinion, You should try shaders %26amp; toners highlights or semi permanent . They wash in %26amp; out, that way you can see if you like them or not before you get them permanently done.

I think you should get highlights like 2 shades lighter than the color you have now. So, I would have a lightener put on with foils with a fine weave but close together. You will then have to have them toned ( you will probably lift to a brassy orange color- don't fret) with a 7ash or 7Natural and 7ash together. I think it would be beautiful with your skin tone and it will be noticeable but won't grow out crazy bad!!!

I would get both low lights (a little darker then you have) and high lights (light carmel brown)

caramel color would be nice if you love caramely colors, it also looks nice if you have a bit tanned skin, and natural color redish is also good if you think it looks good on your skin but I would rather have a natural color hair which would change to a bit caramel or red when reflected under the sun, I've done this before and my friseur recommended it coz I wanted to keep my hair look natural although I also wanted it look a bit different with another color, and it's true, it really looked good! :)

I'd say a light color Carmel closest to your hair color, I think it would look more natural but you'd still see the difference.

Eh, I would say don't get anything blonde. Only because your hair is so dark right now, it may look weird. Try maybe a lighter brown. Ask your hair dresser what would look best on you.

Blonde would be way too much of a contrast. Go for either red or light brown (but not light enough that it gets into dark blonde territory).

Stick with the dark colors:

Solid:

Black, Deep Brown, Chestnut Brown,

If you want highlights I wouldn't go any further than Chestnut brown to medium brown, but I still feel that solid dark colored hair would look better on you. You might look okay with other colors if the color tone of your face was lighter, which could be a result from the make up you put on (it appears to be a lot) in addition to the flash of the camera.

Perhaps instead of changing hair color you should try different hairstyles, toning down the make up, and different color schemes of make up.HELP!! What color highlights should I get?! *PICS!!!!!***?

Just don't go over board with bronzer, and use a little less, and you'll be fine. :)

Actually, you might not even use THAT much make up like everyone says. You seem already really tan, so maybe after you put on just a little bronzer, it looks like you have a lot of make up on. Because your neck is the same skin tone as your face.

Get caramel highlights, or light brown. I don't think you should get blond though, it'll ruin your dark brown hair. :)

Anyhow, with your highlights, I would not go too blonde because you have an olive complexion and dark hair, so maybe just a dark blonde or light brown - something that looks natural.

I don't think u should. Cause of your skin. I have pale WHITE skin and I have dark black, thick, long hair and blue highlights. THey match my dark blue eyes. Get something to match your eyes. THat would bring it out. by the way, I'M NOT ASIAN. Just to make things clear! I'm white! GEEZ!
If you want it to look different then try electric blue. I knew someone who had the same colour hair as you, and she had blue highlights. It looked really good.

If you want it to look natural then go for a lighter brown, maybe dirty blonde.

You look like a shade of Dulux orange paint,and you're worried about highlights?

I'd seriously sort out your skin tone first,anything lighter in your hair while you're orange will look awful.
I think you should get burgundy highlights.
